Some 10.000 employees in 350 companies are working in the Chemiepark Bitterfeld-Wolfen which covers a total area of about 1240 ha. Besides the chemical industry a lot of service providers have settled here, offering any kind of technical and infrastructural support. The chemical companies in the chemical park profit from synergy effects, readily available and cost efficient services and raw materials, modern supply systems for energy, water and other media as well as waste disposal and treatment systems. A number of famous scientific institutions in the surrounding add up to the advantages of this region with its well developed traffic infrastructure (motorway and railway connections, International airport Leipzig-Halle).
