| Sodium sulphate and its applications |
 |
|
 |
Sodium sulphate forms colourless, water soluble crystals and can be found in nature as Thenardit. The decahydrate of sodium sulphate is well-known as Glaubers´s salt which crystallises from water and is used for already a long time as laxative. Water-free sodium sulphate is not a typical chlor-alkali product but a by-product from the brine purification in Bitterfeld.
- Detergent additive
- Drugs (laxative)
- Dye production
- Glazing of cotton
- Glass and paper production
- Pulping of cellulose
- Synthesis of ultramarine (semiprecious stone and colour pigment)
