Our HSE-Policy on Health, Safety and Environment

We at Akzo Nobel Base Chemicals in Bitterfeld make products, that require great care and responsibility in their making and handling. Therefore we have an integrated system in place, that protects our employees, our neighborhood and the environment. Its regular evaluation and improvement is the basis for doing more than only comply with regulatory requirements. We constantly exchange experience with other Chlor-Alkali-Producers, not only within Akzo Nobel but also in cooperation with Euro Chlor in Europe. Our fundamental principles you will find in the HSE-Policy Statement of Akzo Nobel.
Due to Product Stewardship we also expand our HSE standards to our customers and support them with our know-how.
In all our activities we keep to the defined principles of the management of Akzo Nobel like:

- Akzo Nobel Company Statement
- General Business Principles
- Corporate HSE Directives and Guidelines
- Corporate HSE Policy statement
- ICC Charter of Sustainable Development
- Responsible Care Programm
- Euro Chlor Sustainable Development Initiative

 Identification and determination of tasks, responsibilities and risk assessments for these substances and providing all nessessary recources and safety equippment.
 Exchange of experience and active support of the german Berufsgenossenschaften as well as organisations like Euro Chlor, Verband der Chemischen Industrie (VCI).

Our QHSE-Management system is evaluated each year. Opportunities for improvement are transferred to a Three-Year-Operational Plan, that also is revised and updated each year. On the page environmental report, you can have a look at our planned and achieved targets.
